Barangay Daang Bakal was named after the Rail Road of the Philippine National Railway (PNR) based on the ancient people. It is one of the Barangays included in District 1 by the Local Political Division. The Official Logo of the Barangay has the following features: the PNR Railroad where the name Daang Bakal came, it was the path from Manila to Bicol Provinces and vice versa. The Bravo 9 is used because Daang Bakal is the 9th Barangay in the City of Mandaluyong when alphabetically arranged.
Barangay Daang Bakal is located within the city and has a total land area of 16.74 hectares, which constitute 1.54% of the total land area of Mandaluyong City of 1,124.97 hectares. It is one of the barangays which belongs to District 1 by Local Political Division. It is composed of 10 streets namely, Sen. Gonzales formerly Daang Bakal, P. Martinez, Shaw Boulevard, N. Romualdez, Haig, F. Bernardo, Magalona, V. Fabella, J. Tiosejo, and General Kalentong. Barangay Daang Bakal is prone to flood due to its location. One of its corners is bound in San Juan River and Maytunas Creek which are both bodies of water.
As of 2024 PSA projected population, Barangay Daang Bakal has a total population of 4,653 comprising 1.03% of the total population of Mandaluyong. The projected number of households is estimated to 931, with a total number of 5 members per household. The most common source of portable water is supply from waterworks made available through the services of Manila Water Company Service through their pipeline service through households. The barangay is provided with good access roads to and from adjacent barangays and cities. Jeepney and tricycle are the most common transport facilities in Barangay Daang Bakal.
As the center of local governance, Barangay Daang Bakal Hall is located at 553-J. Vicente Fabella Street, it is at the back of Jose Rizal University Elementary Building. Though we started small, our beginning was like a toll gate beside Sevilla Bridge in Shaw Boulevard but with the grace of God we are now occupying 1,168.5 sq.mts. with 255 sq.mts. roof Deck Area and 646 sq.mts. open space. It was turned over by City Mayor Menchie Abalos and former Benhur Abalos on July 18, 2018.
